Stamaril is a vaccine that provides protection against yellow fever, a serious infectious disease
Stamaril is given to individuals who are traveling to, passing through, or living in areas where yellow fever is present or may be present
Stamaril is also given to those traveling to countries that require an International Certificate of Vaccination for entry.
Stamaril should not be given to pregnant or breastfeeding women, children under 6 months of age, or individuals with allergies to eggs, chicken proteins, or any other ingredient of the vaccine.
Stamaril is usually given as a single 0.5 mL dose injection, at least 10 days before travelling.
Common side effects of Stamaril include injection site pain, weakness, headache, fever, and gastrointestinal symptoms.
How should you plan your yellow fever vaccination
- We would highly recommend you to set an appointment with your doctor at least 6 – 8 weeks before you date of departure.
- Sometimes, your doctor might recommends more than 2 vaccinations. Some vaccines require at least 4 weeks gap before another vaccine can be given.
- For yellow fever vaccine, it should be given at least 10 days before arrival to your destination country.
- You only need single dose of vaccine for yellow fever immunisation.
- The protection provided by the vaccine lasts for at least 10 years and may be life-long, but some individuals may require re-vaccination based on their risk and official recommendations.
